Staying Motivated on Your Fitness Journey

Staying Motivated on Your Fitness Journey

At the start of any new year, many of us say to ourselves that this is going to be the year we do something with our health and/or fitness level. It’s now mid-March and some of us may need a little push to keep on track. Living a healthy lifestyle takes time and won’t happen all at once.  Consistency is the key to success.  Exercise doesn’t have to be an hour long workout - it can start with something as simple as ten minutes a day.  You want to strive for 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise a week.  Fit movement into your day whenever you can.  A 30-minute walk in the morning and 20-minute strength session in the afternoon is perfectly fine.   Rest and recover days are important, but that doesn’t mean being a total couch potato.  On your rest days do some simple stretching exercises.  Remember motion is like lotion for our joints!

Here’s a 14-Day calendar to help get back (or keep) on track. I like to physically mark things off as I complete them.  So if you’re like me, print the calendar and keep it in a prominent place.  Then mark off each day once you complete the exercise.  Start on any day of the week, but just commit to moving your body for 14 consecutive days.  All the videos can be found on Toned and Balanced YouTube page.
